In May of 2023, Ebony walked through the doors of Teresa Shelter with a heart full of hope and a desire for a fresh start. After battling addiction for many years, she was ready to reclaim her life. With determination in her eyes, she committed herself to transforming her mindset and setting achievable goals.
Upon entering the shelter, Ebony didn’t waste any time. She secured a full-time job and began diligently saving money by following a strict monthly budget. Her hard work and perseverance paid off when she transitioned to Maria House, where she continued to build on her progress. With unwavering dedication, Ebony saved enough money to purchase her own vehicle—a milestone she had long dreamed of achieving.
January of 2024 marked another significant step in Ebony’s journey as she moved into The Francis Apartments. This move represented more than just a new home; it was the foundation of a stable and nurturing environment. In this newfound stability, Ebony reunited with her three teenage boys, who now live with her full-time.
Today, Ebony is thriving. She proudly celebrates nearly two years of sobriety, a testament to her strength and resilience. Her journey from addiction to stability is an inspiring story of transformation, proving that with the right support and determination, new beginnings are always within reach.
