Opening Doors Awarded Community Impact Grant

We are thrilled to share that Opening Doors has been awarded a Community Impact Grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. This grant is part of a regional investment of $135,000 awarded to 11 nonprofits working across Dubuque, Clayton, and Clinton counties.

What This Grant Means for Opening Doors

This funding will allow us to directly address two of the most significant barriers faced by the women and children we serve:

  • Childcare: Providing safe, reliable childcare so that mothers can pursue employment, training, and stability without worry.
  • Transportation: Ensuring access to appointments, jobs, and resources so that opportunities are never out of reach.

By focusing on these barriers, we are creating pathways for independence and sustainable living.

Why It Matters

The women and children who come through our doors often face challenges that extend beyond housing. Lack of childcare and transportation are not just inconveniences—they can be roadblocks to progress. This grant allows us to offer solutions that remove those obstacles, ensuring women can move forward with dignity, confidence, and hope.

The Bigger Picture

The Community Impact Grants program strengthens nonprofits by funding not just programs, but also training, collaboration, operations, and capacity building. Out of 42 applicants requesting more than $569,000, only 11 organizations were selected. We are honored to be among them and grateful for the trust placed in us.

Thank You

We are deeply thankful to the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque for their investment in our mission. And to our community of donors, volunteers, and partners—this recognition is also yours. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate community.

Looking Ahead
We look forward to rolling out these new supports in the months ahead and sharing stories of the lives transformed through your generosity and the Community Impact Grant.

Together, we are opening more than doors, we are opening futures to sustainable living.
