Help Us With a Critical Need

Every day, women and children call Opening Doors home. Right now, over 30 individuals are living in our emergency shelter and transitional housing. Together, we create a safe, stable, and healing environment, but we can’t do it without your help.

What We Need
Our shelves are running low on two essentials:
– Toilet Paper
– Laundry Soap

These simple items are used daily by every resident. With so many families under our roof, the need adds up quickly. Drop off donations at –

Why Your Gift Matters

Did you know it costs $148 per bed night to house a woman at Teresa Shelter? That adds up to more than $4,440 per month for 30 days of safety, stability, and support.
Teresa Shelter has space for 15 women in our bunk area and 15 in extended stay, yet we must turn away women and their children every month simply because there isn’t enough room.
But here’s what makes Opening Doors different: we are program-first. Housing is just the beginning. Our team walks alongside every woman to help her build a pathway toward sustainable, independent living through:
– Personalized case management
– Life skills & financial education
– Sobriety support & health resources
– Employment readiness & housing solutions

When you support Opening Doors, you’re not just covering a bed night—you’re investing in healing, hope, and home for women and children right here in Dubuque.

Together, we can make sure no family goes without shelter, food and support.
